Why not read the book out loud? And maybe get granny or grandad to help you. They'll know the words. And you can listen to the story read by Christine on the CD 'A Hansel o Stories – 1'.

There are three more Smootie stories on it and a short story for younger children as well ('Ellie an da Sail Needle').
There's a fine trowie story written and read by Jane Moncrieff also on the CD. You'll find that one printed out in the CD booklet, illustrated by Frances.
